That it is 64 degrees right now. I have the windows open and there is a nice breeze blowing through the house.
Also, the price of gas is $1.97 here.
I'm easy to please today!

Green

These are just a few pictures I took at the game last Saturday so that you could see how green the uniforms are. I will try to remember to take a picture of just the boys before the game this Saturday.
I haven't posted in the last few days because it has been quite busy around here. On Tuesday I had two extra children for a large part of the day. Yesterday I had one extra child for the afternoon.
Today things have been much better. I had a lunch date with John Henry. Afterwards we went downtown to one of the shops that specializes in papers, invitations and gifts. I love just about everything in that store.
I also checked on things for Lake's birthday party today. He'll be eight in less than two weeks. That's all I have to say about that because, well, he was the first baby. And now he's about to be eight.

Yesterday
Yesterday I took the girls and met my mom for an afternoon of shopping. She lives about thirty minutes away, so, thankfully I am able to see her often.
On the way, Rosie asked me if I cried when Papaw died. She also wanted to know if she cried when he died. Daisy was 23 months old when he died and she doesn't seem to remember much about that time. If she does remember, she doesn't verbalize it. Daisy asked Rosie why Papaw died. Rosie told her that his kidneys had failed. The way she said kidneys sounded more like 'kid a knees'. Daisy said, "Was he mad?"
I stayed out of the conversation. I felt like someone had kicked me in the stomach and tried to knock the breath out of me.
I don't know if he was mad or not.
I like to think he was not.
I also like to wish I wasn't mad about it.

Goal!
I haven't posted much about the boys' soccer team. They are playing U8 on the same team this year. The league they are playing in is the city league and thankfully we don't keep score at this level. Well, an official score is not kept but I think some of the parents keep score.
Lake made a goal last night - his first goal of the season. He finally understands the game after playing it for four years. Tate has only played three years but he has understood the game from the beginning. He has always been one step ahead and tried to judge where the ball is going rather than trying to be where the ball is at that moment.
I'll try to get pictures soon. I keep forgetting to take the camera...

Four year check up
Rosie had her four year check up this morning. She is healthy and GROWING! She is 46.5 inches tall and weighs 46 pounds. She had to get three vaccinations this morning, also. I had prepared her for them. She was very still and although she shed some tears, there was not any screaming. Oh, and I also told her that if she was still and remained calm, she could pick where we had lunch. Of course she picked Chick-fil-a. GiGi met us and hung out with us in the play area until the girls were exhausted.
Not a bad day at all!

Why is it...
that when John Henry puts everyone to bed, they stay asleep all night? When I put the girls to bed for the night they wake up atleast once and usually two or three times a night.
Hmmmm....
Hmmmm....

Photo from the past summer

This photo and post is for HP. Her daughter is playing t-ball for the first time this year and she has the same uniform that Lake had this summer. Well, without the fancy socks and pants! Maybe I'm just goofy but it is neat to me that they have the same uniform. Maybe it is neat to me because she and Rosie had the same dance recital outfit. Maybe it is neat to me because we have never actually met in person, either. However, a camping trip is being planned that also includes Trixie and Wa Wa and the chance for all of our families to meet.
Or, like I said. Maybe I'm just goofy.

Six year check up
Tate went for his six year check up on Monday. He is 51 and 3/4 inches tall. He weighs 61 pounds. He is generally healthy. However he now needs to go to the eye doctor. His vision last year was 20/30. This year it is 20/40. He has an appointment in a few weeks to get them checked.

Toothless

Well, he's not actually toothless but he did finally lose a tooth. This tooth has been barely hanging around for a few days. Yesterday while Lake and Tate were playing in their room I heard Tate say, "Uh-oh. Where did it go?" He was referring to his tooth that literally fell out of his mouth while they were playing.

Dance Class

Last night Rosie started dance class. She moved up to the pre-school II class. I think she enjoyed it much more than last year. When I asked her about it afterwards she just smiled and said it was fine. When I questioned her about what they did and her favorite part she said that Ms. Robin was teaching them how to turn cartwheels and that was her favorite thing. The class consists of 20 minutes each of acrobatics, ballet and tap. Since her class is at 5:30 I took her while John Henry stayed at home with the other three.

Ready for school

The girls started school yesterday. Since we had just taken photos of the boys' first day of school, they were all ready to pose for their first day of school pictures!

After the first picture, they wanted to turn sideways. They both posed for this one without any direction from me.

They also wanted to see what they look like from the back. Yes, Daisy's backpack is below her knees. It has to be large enough for a folder and her lunch box to fit inside.
Neither girl cried at school. I expected Rosie to be fine. I wasn't sure about Daisy. She went in, put her backpack on her peg and was about to play when I directed her to her seat and showed her that she had her own crayons and a sheet to color. She got right to work. She looked up at me and said, "I'm not crying. You're not leaving." I stayed a moment longer before I bent down and told her that I love her and would see her in a short while. Still no tears. Wow, a big sigh of relief.
I didn't know what to do with myself yesterday. I couldn't concentrate yesterday because there wasn't the constant chatter. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
Watermelon

We went to the farm to visit Grandma on Saturday. We took a watermelon with us. If I understand John Henry correctly, Genius gave us this watermelon that is the size of a small horse. I should have taken a picture before we cut into it.
I took the kids outside to sit on the bridge - It made for much easier clean-up!

I think they enjoyed it! They even tried to spit the seeds. The boys were successful at spitting. The girls, well, they need to practice. Daisy would spit most of the watermelon out with her seed.
The weather was beautiful. We spent a fair amount of time outside. It was just too nice to be inside!
While I was away

John Henry took the kids to the Space and Rocket Center last weekend while I was busy scrapbooking. They all seemed to really enjoy it but have requested that I go next time.
One of the highlights was this ride. I don't know the name of the ride but it looks like a small version of SpaceShot. I don't know the little boy on the far left but he seems to fit in with the gang! Did you notice that Lake lost his shoes?

Thirteen years

Today is our thirteenth anniversary! We have been together for a little over eighteen years. We are both thirty-six. We have been together for half of our lives. That thought amazes me.
OK. So what are we doing to celebrate? Yesterday my mom kept the kids and we went on a long date. We had about six hours to spend together. We did a lot of walking and talking. There is something to be said about uninterrupted conversations! We have a big decision to make and were able to discuss it at great length yesterday.
As for today we haven't decided what we'll do. It will definitely be something the family will enjoy. Usually when we have time like this we get in the van and just drive until we find something cool. At first the boys didn't like to go on these trips. Now they call it an adventure!

Snacks
Let me begin by stating that all of my children bring me joy - each in their own way.
Before we ever had children, I often heard people (mostly other mothers and grandparents) say things to their babies such as, "I love you so much, I could eat you with a spoon." I didn't give that much thought until I had children. Now, I regard that statement as, "I love you so much, I can't get enough of you."
Well, for the last few days Daisy and I have been playing a silly parent/child game where I'll be holding her or she'll be sitting on my lap and I'll bury my face in her hair around her neck and tickle her. It then progressed to include her arms and tummy. At some point while we were playing this, I started calling her an "Abby snack." Now she comes to me with her arm held out to me saying, "Here, Mommy. Here is your Abby snack" meaning that she wants me to snack on her and tickle her. She has also started naming the snacks french fries, grapes or chocolate. If she wants me to keep tickling her she'll say, "You missed one, Mommy."
This silly game brings me pure joy.
