Shiner

This is the result of a baseball not being caught in the glove. The quality of the photo is not great but there is definitely a nice purple bruise under Tate's right eye. He was very brave about the whole incident. This happened at practice on Saturday - before practice was over he got back out on the field and practiced with the team.

Spring Break, Day Five

Today we went to Sci-Quest. This is a 'hands-on' science museum that all of the kids love! I have pictures that I will post as soon as blogger will allow.

Many thanks to Genius for the free passes to the museum!

Finally, here are the pictures:

One of the favorite sites to visit was the Belching Man. Of coures, with my four children, you probably could have guessed that on your own!

You may have to click on this photo to really appreciate it! The look on Lake's face when he realized he was sniffing 'letter C' was priceless!

Spring Break, Day Four

It is really low key here today.

Two friends came to play.

The weather is a lovely 77 degrees today.

Sweethearts

Remember this?

If not, let me refresh your memory: Daisy doesn't like going to the dentist. However, she pretends to BE the dentist and when she finishes cleaning the bears teeth, she sends them 'home' with a bag that includes a tooth brush and toothpaste. Oh, and the pink gloves are the ones she wears while cleaning the teeth.

Today she went one step further. The bears were 'sweethearts' while at the dentist.

However, they were exhausted and needed a nap.

And, each bear couldn't sleep without a stuffed animal and blanket. I promise I didn't stage these pictures - this is what I found on the living room floor.

What happens when Mom is away

I was away last weekend, so John Henry thought he would take the kids fishing. I think they all enjoyed the trip.

Lake and Tate love to fish with Dad.

Rosie's first catch! Yep, she's holding it but complained for days afterwards about the 'scruffy marks' on her thumb from the fish teeth.

What a catch!

Uhm....no way am I holding that thing!

Spring Break, Day Three

OK. Today has been the best day of spring break thus far.

We packed a lunch and took it to the Wildlife Refuge that is about 4 minutes from our house. We also met some friends for a total of 7 children and 2 adults. We toured the inside of the refuge and watched a 9 minute informational video. Before we took a hike on the trail, we decided to enjoy our picnic lunch under a nice shady tree. The weather was perfect.

We spent a total of (roughly) three hours at the refuge. Afterwards it was time for a snack so we headed to a fast food restaurant for ice cream. Since everyone was enjoying just being together, we went to our friends house and let the kids play in the water from the hose.

Now, we are home. Dinner is nearly ready. John Henry should be home any minute.

It's been a good day.

Spring Break, Day Two

Today has been fairly low key. We had a few errands to run this morning. The boys read for awhile. Lake is reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe while Tate is reading Meet the Robinson's.

This afternoon all four played in the water from the hose in the backyard.

Tonight after dinner we are either going to the park or riding bikes.

I know it is short and to the point but, hey, it's better than nothing!

Spring Break, Day One

Today is the first day of spring break. This morning we did a little spring cleaning and found a couple of great things for Trixie. The boys cleaned their room and the living room while the girls helped me with their room.

After the cleaning and lunch we headed out to the park. We stayed for about an hour and a half. For the most part, Lake, Tate and Rosie played in the sand. Daisy played with her pretend friend Myla. Actually, she played with two pretend friends, both named Myla. Hop over to: the-pink-turtle.blogspot.com to read about an observation I made while at the park.

Tonight the boys have baseball practice at 6:30 which will last until 8:00pm.

Hopefully somewhere during that time John Henry will be back home!

We are fine

Actually, we've been fine. To borrow a phrase from a fellow blogger, I am experiencing a bit of spring fever. Or writer's block. Or Mommy of Four brain. Or my children have discovered the wonderful world of the computer so I rarely get to use it. You pick.

I have lots of things that I would like to post about and even a few cute pictures.

So, while this is a 'nothing important' post, it will allow you to know that we are still here - alive and kicking.

Oh, and very excited for one of you *wink, wink*

Cartwheels

I don't know about you, but we have been enjoying some very lovely weather! This afternoon Lake spent some time with a friend so, John Henry and I took Tate to the batting cage so that he could practice without big brother looking over his shoulder and offering much advice.

Rosie practiced her cartwheels.

I didn't quite get her with her feet up.

Daisy made an attempt at a cartwheel.

And then just decided to just strike a pose.

A girl's gotta have shoes

On Tuesday I took the girls to the mall to look for Rosie black tap shoes. Her recital pictures are next week and the costume requires tan tights and black tap shoes. While she was trying them on for size, Daisy said that she needed new tap shoes. She doesn't take dance class this year, although she dresses up in a leotard and tights and either tap or ballet shoes. I explained that she has some white tap shoes that are just fine for playing. She countered with: "But they're old."

So, how did I handle it?

Flip flops that will go with quite a few outfits.

Notice the cute wedge heel?

I can't help it when it comes to shoes. I confess, they are one of my weaknesses.

Very fitting

I received the call yesterday from the boys' baseball coach. Although he was not the coach we had expected, we are still very excited that baseball season is upon us. Lake seemed the most excited that his brother was going to be on his team. He couldn't seem to understand that they would be on the same team regardless of how the tryouts went.

So, what was the response when I told them the name of their team was the Fighting Turtles? (Actually, they are the Maryland Terrapins but the coach thought the boys would like Fighting Turtles better)

Tate: "YES! That's cool!"

Lake: "Yay! We get to be on the same team AND Mommy's favorite thing is on the shirt!"

Play ball!
